Hello, I'm Alberto

I photograph the parts of a city that stay lit after everyone has gone in.

It started as a scheduling problem. Daylight belonged to everything else, so I took what was left — and the leftovers turned out to be the good part. A gas station canopy burning amber with nobody under it. A shop door still saying Welcome at 1:16 a.m. A red hand telling an empty street not to walk.

Nearly all of it is made between midnight and two in the morning, within driving distance of home, on a 35mm lens wide open. The color is sodium and mercury and whatever a shop leaves running overnight — I don't add it in post. What you're looking at is what the lights were doing.
